Nick Sortal

Councilman of Plantation

Councilman Sortal is a long time resident of the City of Plantation. He has degrees in mathematics and journalism and has worked for South Florida Sun Sentinel for 30 years. He was also a high school basketball coach and a well respected community servant in the City of Plantation. Thank you Councilman Nick Sortal of Plantation. It is quite an honor to have your full support and endorsement.

Alexandra Davis

Vice Mayor of Miramar

Vice Mayor Davis spent her life in public service and has served on various Miramar boards including the Education and Planning and Zoning Boards. She has also created a youth apprenticeship program, ensured all schools in Miramar have school resource officers, and formed a nonprofit organization called the Caribbean American Teachers Association of Florida. She is also a certified teacher.

I look forward to working with Vice Mayor Davis to better the lives and learning outcomes of children in Miramar and across Broward.

Sydney Corbin

President of the City of Plantation Historical Society

Sydney Corbin, longest serving President of the City of Plantation Historical Society has endorsed Dr. Jeff Holness for School Board of Broward County, At Large, Seat 9. Sydney Corbin has been a resident of the City of Plantation for over 40 years and has been active in his community as a member of the St, Benedict’s Episcopal Church for over 20 years. President Corbin oversaw the Plantation Historical Society’s expansion and growth in it’s supporting role of the City of Plantation Historical Museum. He is a chartered life underwriter, a licensed life insurance agent and certified retirement planner.

Dr. Rosalind Osgood

Broward School Board Vice Chair

Dr. Rosalind Osgood is a Broward County native. She has earned both a Master’s and Doctoral Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. In 2001, Dr. Osgood had the unique honor of being the first woman in the history of the New Mount Olive Baptist Church to be licensed, ordained, and positioned in the pulpit as a preacher, by the late preacher extraordinaire, Reverend Dr. Mack King Carter. In December of 2007, she earned a Master’s of Divinity Degree from New Orleans Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Mount Olive Development Corporation, Florida Senator For District 32, and Associate Minister at New Mount Olive Baptist Church. She is a Former Adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University Huizenga School of Business and Former Broward County School Board Member. She is the author of two academic articles and a two books titled, “The Story Behind the Story” and “Influential Woman Leader”. She is a member of numerous professional organizations. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and Fort Lauderdale (FL) Chapter of the Links Incorporated. She has served on numerous Boards and Committees. She is the Chaplain for the Florida Legislative Black Caucus, A member of the Broward Behavioral Health Coalition Board, and the Florida Council on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys. Dr. Osgood has been recognized by her peers as a true community leader. In 2013, Dr. Osgood became the First Female Chaplain for the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department and received the 2009 JM Families African American Achievers Award.

Marty Kiar

Broward County Appraiser

Martin “Marty” Kiar is a lifelong Broward County resident. Having been born and educated in Broward County, his roots run deep in this community. After completing high school, Marty earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University with his Juris Doctorate. His path to public service began when he was appointed to the Town of Davie School Advisory Board, Town of Davie Airport Advisory Board and the Broward County Housing and Finance Authority. Marty went on to serve as the Assistant Town Attorney and Assistant Municipal Prosecutor for the Town of Davie.

Louis Reinstein

City of Plantation Councilmember

My family moved to Plantation in 1974 and this is the community where I grew up. After college at the University of Florida and graduate school at Emory University, I moved back to Plantation to a home of my own and began teaching middle school and high school. After four years of teaching, I went back to school to obtain a law degree. While at law school at Nova Southeastern, I met my amazing wife, Adi. Since graduating from law school, I have served many roles as an attorney, including as the current Legal Counsel for the Broward Legislative Delegation, and I also am a certified Florida Supreme Court Mediator for both county and circuit courts.

Harold Pryor

State Attorney

Harold F. Pryor was elected Broward State Attorney (Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit) in November 2020. He leads a staff of 462 employees, including 213 prosecutors, whose mission is to make our community safer while working to ensure justice, equity and fairness for everyone affected by our criminal justice system. He is the first Black state attorney in Broward and the first Black man to be elected state attorney in Florida.

Jennifer Andreu

Plantation Councilmember

Jennifer Andreu is a transformational leader with over 25 years of experience and accomplishments in public and private education. She started her career as an elementary school teacher at South Hialeah Elementary and quickly became an Assistant Principal at Miami Lakes Elementary. She has held a number of roles from Principal at Flamingo Elementary to Administrative Director for Business & Personnel and Administrative Director for the Federal and State Compliance Office.
